Introduction

Hi, I’m Jack, founder of OTBIT Studios. I'm a concept-led product designer working at the intersection of systems, people, and tangible artefacts. I created OTBIT to bring together years of hands-on creative problem-solving with a deeper, thoughtful and holistic design practice.

Career Journey

My career began in the events, outdoor arts, and luxury visual merchandising sectors, working as a freelance maker, production manager, and installation specialist. I delivered bespoke, high‑end builds under tight deadlines and complex constraints, developing deep expertise in fabrication, spatial problem‑solving, and end‑to‑end delivery.

Before this, I studied philosophy at York University, training my ability to think critically, systemically, and deeply. That foundation sharpened my capacity to interrogate problems, understand interdependencies, and design with intent rather than assumption.

As my practice developed, my focus shifted from execution alone to the design process itself. This led me to complete a degree in Product and Industrial Design at Central Saint Martins, graduating with First‑Class Honours.

Today, this rare combination of hands‑on making, strategic thinking, and creative rigor defines my work. It forms an evolving, informed design practice grounded in innovation, material intelligence, and the ability to navigate complex, real‑world challenges.

Why OTBIT

OTBIT Studios is the evolution of that journey. A space to apply everything I’ve learned to new and meaningful challenges. I’m drawn to complexity, not afraid of difficult problems, and driven by the belief that good design must do more than function. It must matter.

From sustainable product design to adaptive systems and ethical innovation, my goal is to collaborate on work that’s purposeful, responsible, and built to last. I bring hands-on skill, strategic thinking, and a deep care for how things are made, and why.

"Design sits at the synthesis of disciplines, the conductor of the orchestra. Its power lies in weaving many voices into a meaningful future"
